Collaborating Labs
As this project proposes a practice-based and interdisciplinary approach, it largely involves Anderson working with scientists in the lab, supported by continuous dialogue with Dupré (PI) and Wakefield (Co-I), ensuring that this engagement is critical and reflective. Together, they work on providing a philosophical basis for their dialogue with the collaborating scientists, establishing the epistemological role of drawing in understanding biological processes and developing new interdisciplinary tools for philosophers, scientists and artists. To engage with multiple spatial and temporal scales of biological process, Anderson is developing a series of focused ‘case-study’ style explorations to explicate the kinds of challenges for depiction of specific examples of biological process focusing on the Wakefield Lab and the Labs of collaborating experts from partner institutions:
- Living Systems Institute, University of Exeter
- The Wakefield Lab, University of Exeter
- Olson Lab, The Natural History Museum, London
- Centre national de la recherche scientifique (CNRS), Paris
- Leptin Group, European Molecular Biology Laboratory, Heidelberg, Germany
- Konrad Lorenz Institute for Evolution and Cognition Research (KLI), Vienna
